Is your child moving house soon, or do they love trucks? Here are 15 free moving-day coloring pages and drawings and a calendar to fill in for the big day: coloring pages of a moving lift, a furniture hoist and a removal truck, free to download and print as a PDF, free access and no sign-up needed. Easy coloring pages for kids, from preschool to primary school: the furniture lift (hoist) that carries furniture up, and the moving truck that transports and delivers everything to the new house.

What is a moving lift? (explained for kids)
A moving lift is a furniture lift, also called a furniture hoist or goods lift. As its name says, it carries furniture up and down, along with household appliances (the fridge, the washing machine…) and any heavy load, straight up the outside of the house or building.
Instead of carrying the big sofa up the stairs, you put it on the lift platform, and whoosh: it glides along the long ladder all the way to the window or the balcony!
- The lift truck parks in front of the house.
- The operator unfolds the long ladder and rests it against the front of the building, just below the window.
- A platform, a bit like a small elevator, moves up and down the ladder thanks to a motor.
- The furniture rides on the platform and goes in through the window or the balcony.
Did you know? The Ôlift.be lift can reach the 9th floor. It is always driven by an operator, and children watch from a safe distance. It’s faster than the stairs, and nobody gets a sore back!
Lift, truck and furniture hoist coloring pages: who are they for?
These drawings to colour in are useful for lots of people:
- Parents about to move house, to prepare their child by showing how furniture goes up and down through the window with the lift.
- Teachers and nursery staff looking for an activity on the theme of vehicles, jobs, the home or moving house.
- Youth leaders, for a craft workshop or a quiet activity.
- Kids who love machines: trucks, hoists, goods lifts and every kind of lifting machine.
All the coloring pages are free, printable and free to download as a PDF. They show the lift carrying furniture, boxes and household appliances up to the apartment, and the truck that transports and delivers everything to the new house. The scenes take place in Brussels and Belgium, from Grimbergen to Uccle.
How to draw a furniture lift (easy, in 4 steps)
Want to make your own drawing? Here is how to draw a moving lift and its truck:
- The truck: draw a big rectangle (the body), a small square in front (the cab) and two circles underneath (the wheels).
- The ladder: draw two long slanted lines from the truck to the building, then join them with small rungs.
- The platform: at the top of the ladder, draw a small platform in front of a window. That’s where the furniture goes.
- The details: add a box, a chair or a fridge on the platform… then colour it in!
Tip: print one of our coloring pages first for inspiration, then try drawing it on your own.
Craft and activity ideas on the moving house theme
- Pack like the grown-ups: with matchboxes and newspaper, the child packs their little toys and protects them, just like we protect furniture.
- The lift game: a shoebox tied to a string lets toys go up and down from a chair to the table.
- My moving box: the child decorates and labels the box for their bedroom, so it is easy to find on delivery day.
- The big day calendar: helps the child count the days until moving day (see below).

The kids’ calendar: « The day I move house »

A calendar for kids to fill in and colour, so moving day becomes a real event. Your child circles the month, the day of the week, the date and the year, the season, the weather (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, windy, stormy) and their mood (happy, pleased, surprised, worried, sad, angry, tired), then describes their new home.
A fun way to learn the days, months and seasons, and to talk about feelings before the big day. Also available in French and Dutch on our FR and NL pages.
How to prepare your child for moving house with these colouring pages
- Talk about it early. Colour the lift and the truck together and explain how the furniture will travel to the new home.
- Fill in the calendar. Circle the date and put the calendar on the fridge: your child sees the day getting closer.
- Talk about feelings. The « My mood » box opens the conversation: you can be happy and worried at the same time, and that’s normal.
- Get them involved. Let them pack their own box of toys, decorate it and write their name on it.
- On the day. Keep the colouring book within reach: it keeps children busy while the furniture goes up or down.
So the grown-ups don’t forget anything, see our free moving checklist (PDF).
